Alzheimer´s disease

Alzheimer´s disease begins slowly and subtly, gradually the first symptoms are joined by others. The changes caused by the disease affect all areas of life and fundamentally affect a person's entire personality.

The main areas of disease manifestations

  • Impaired learning: Difficulty retaining new information
  • Word-finding problems: Struggling to recall the correct words, substituting them with others
  • Changes in communication: Shifts in facial expressions and difficulty expressing oneself clearly
  • Disrupted thought flow: Incomplete sentences and thoughts
  • Repetitive speech: Frequent repetition of words or phrases
  • Disorientation: Difficulty with time and place awareness

Mental health support

Alzheimer's disease can cause rapid mood swings, with a person shifting from hostility and crying to aggression and paranoia. They may also lose interest in social activities and become withdrawn. To counteract this, providing new and engaging stimulation is crucial.

Medications can offer temporary relief from Alzheimer's symptoms, but they cannot cure the disease. With no current cure, early diagnosis, preventative measures, and mental health support for both patients and caregivers become crucial.
